Blue - Colour Explained
When attempting to access the conscious and unconscious psyche, there is no other shade than blue that will do the job perfectly. Although this colour is considered to be a masculine shade, it still manages to traverse the gender barrier because lighter shades of blue appeal to the feminine mind the same way pink does.
It is associated with such traits as stability, intelligence, dependability, depth, trustworthiness, confidence and a whole lot more. It is also associated with a lot of elements found in nature. It symbolizes the sky as well as it reflects the vast oceans and seas.
The darkest and deepest blue almost resembles black and is considered to be a very masculine colour. This fact is widely accepted in society and is something that has been taken into consideration by marketing masterminds. Pale blues signify youth, softness and health. That is why it is the colour most often used to make clothes for baby boys.
It is considered to be the complete opposite of red, both in wavelength and in effect. Red fires things up, blue calms it down and while red increase the appetite, blue suppresses it. Therefore, it may not be so wise for a food company to market their products in blue. Blue can also be made to represent cleanliness and can be associated with safe drinking water or ice cold beverages.
