Yellow - Colour Explained

There is no other colour that picks up the sense better than yellow does. It signifies the sun, happiness, intelligence, energy and a whole more. Most of the flowers given to sick patients in hospitals are yellow. When a lover wants to ask for forgiveness from a wronged loved one, he gives her yellow roses instead of fiery red ones. That is because yellow represents more than just cheer and joy, it also stands for hope.

Being one of the primary colours, yellow can transform into anything. It can be green, orange and a whole lot more. It can easily mix with black and white making it darker and lighter respectively. The darker shade nearly imitates gold and the palest yellow easily blends in and even disappears on a stark white background.

It is often perceived as the perfect shade for kids and is not considered as a great colour choice for male formal wear. It is also thought to be a colour that is potentially unstable, that is why if you are trying to convey strength and continuity, why not try a darker shade like blue, black or brown instead.

Like any colour, yellow also has its’ down side. A yellow tint doesn’t always symbolize cheer and joy. Sometimes a dull shade of this colour is made to represent sickness. With the grayish pale yellow and yellowish brown signifying sickness and decomposition. A yellow shade with a hint of green often symbolizes jealousy and inner pain. All of this negativity truly tells that a colour can represent both the negative and the positive side of things.
