Green - Colour Explained
Green is a mix between dependable blue and cheery yellow. It is perhaps the most familiar colour and is present everywhere in nature. It represents harmony, growth, fertility, freshness, health, money, hope and more. The wrong shade of green can also represent seeded jealousy, nausea and sickness, it is also said to represent greed because of its connection with money.
There is no shade more soothing to the eyes than Green. Most optometrists would say that looking at a green screen after long ours of working on the computer or watching the TV will help ease the strain on the eyes.
It is also the most common colour in nature, with everything from leaves to fruits and vegetables. Even the slow sloth is green sometimes – but that is due to the growth of algae on their fur and not their natural colour.
Green is also used in road signs as the opposition of red. It signifies safety and free passage. It is also the symbol for safety in medical settings and is used to indicate oxygen. It is also often made to mean one that is lacking in experience.
Aquamarine and Sea-foam green are often associated with cleanliness and soothing, the same way that menthol and mint is cooling to the touch and palate. A shade of green, olive - is seen as a colour denoting peace. This colour also symbolizes caring for the environment and healthy living and any alliance that is environmentally conscious is dubbed as ‘green’.
